For a snack with a glass of beer, juice or sweet tea, as well as for soups, borscht and other first courses, dry bread croutons with garlic in the oven. Perhaps only scrambled eggs are easier to prepare.

Ingredients:

Wheat bread - 300 g

Garlic - 1 pc.

Vegetable oil - 50 ml

Dill - 20 g

Sea salt - 5 g

Step by step recipe:

Step 1 - To cook homemade garlic croutons in the oven, take the food listed. Sunflower oil or refined corn oil is suitable, does not smoke when frying and roasting. Garlic can be either fresh in the prongs or dried (minced / granulated). First of all, heat the oven to the maximum, then the croutons will brown very quickly. As for bread, it is delicious with any: white varieties, rye, bran, corn. Most importantly, with a porous and wide crumb.

Step 2 - Not the freshest bread is suitable for such a snack. Of course, not with mold, but yesterday's - for sure. This crumbles less and is easier to cut into even blanks. First, we cut about a quarter of a loaf into slices of the same thickness, then cut each of them into two or three parts: triangles, squares, pieces of irregular shape. We do not cut off the crusts. Since croutons are not croutons, do not cut into small cubes or thin bars, they will come out too fat.

Step 3 - Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan or into another convenient heat-resistant form, evenly and in one layer place bread pieces. We crush the garlic cloves with a knife or chop into large plates and scatter them over the free places. We send to the oven (lower the temperature to 180 degrees) and fry the croutons with garlic for about 3-5 minutes, ruddy and saturate with oil from below. We make sure that they do not burn.

Step 4 - Take it out of the oven. Turn the bread slices over quickly, if desired, rub the toasted sides with a raw garlic clove - the aroma and pungency will increase. We return to the oven for the next 3-5 minutes, dry from the back side.

Step 5 - After frying on both sides in garlic-scented oil, transfer the croutons to a napkin. We remove excess fat. Sprinkle with chopped herbs, ground hot pepper and salt.

Serve the crispy garlic croutons lukewarm or completely cooled.
