A lot of delicious and healthy dishes are prepared from ordinary beets, which are present in almost any kitchen. What is the most aromatic borscht in winter or a bright and mouth-watering vinaigrette - the dishes that made this vegetable famous all over the world!

But not everyone can properly cook the beets themselves, or rather, do it so that not only vitamins and trace elements, but also juice are preserved in the root crop. To do this, the vegetable is recommended not to boil, but to bake. Beets in foil in the oven will turn out to be more juicy, aromatic and soft, they will steam from the inside, and the color of their juice will remain bright.

Choose vegetables of medium size, or rather, the same size so that they bake evenly. It is advisable that the beets are not fodder varieties - they have little juice and more fiber.

Ingredients:

Beets - 5 pcs.

Salt and pepper to taste

How to cook:

Purchase or dig up beet tubers of the same size, rinse them thoroughly in water with the hard side of a sponge, removing dirt and dust. Cut off the tails and stems, leaves.

Use scissors to cut the foil into squares or rectangles to fit one vegetable entirely.

Place one beet at a time on a square of foil and wrap it tightly around the root vegetable so that there is no outlet or hole for steam. The beets must be steamed from the inside.

Place the wrapped vegetables in a baking dish. There is no need to lubricate it. Also, do not put water in it. Place the pan in an oven preheated to 200 degrees and bake the vegetables for about 25-30 minutes, depending on their size.

Remove the mold and carefully open the foil. Leave the baked beets to cool at room temperature for about 20 minutes, or take them outside.

After that, carefully cut off the top, scrape off the peel, since it separates perfectly. Rinse the root vegetable under running water.

Cut into slices and place on a plate or dish, sprinkle with salt and ground black pepper. If the beets are not very sweet, you can add a few pinches of sugar to the rest of the spices.

Use baked beets for borscht, salads, soups, sauces, marinades, etc. It is permissible to bake it in advance and store it in the cold, because the shelf life is 3 days.
