Soup is the head of everything. And this is actually so, because any first dish, and we know this from childhood, is very beneficial for our entire body.
We decided to compare the two most famous dishes - borscht and cabbage soup, evaluating their strengths and weaknesses. Let the battle begin !!!
Borscht
Ukrainian borscht is one of the most popular first courses. Soup has long been considered a symbol of a strong family, since all the ingredients were cooked in one pot, where they then languished for several hours. Each ingredient conveyed its taste and aroma to the rest, and the dish turned out to be hearty and very pleasant to taste.
Advantages and disadvantages
Benefits:
- vitamin soup (A, C, K, B);
- contains a large amount of protein and fiber;
- differs in a variety of recipes (more than 70 variations);
- turns out to be rich, aromatic, satisfying.
Disadvantages:
- the classic recipe involves roasting beets;
- the use of low-quality meat reduces the usefulness of the dish;
- time-consuming to prepare.
Cabbage soup
This is a primordially Russian dish that appeared almost a millennium ago, when cabbage was first brought from Ancient Rome.
Originally, the cabbage and herb-based stew was the mainstay of the peasants' diet, as all the ingredients grew right next to the house. But over time, the royal feasts were not complete without this soup, which has already begun to be cooked in thick meat broth, adding various components.
Advantages and disadvantages
Benefits:
- dietary soup, especially if you cook it without meat and with mushrooms;
- all ingredients for cooking are inexpensive
Disadvantages:
- it is better to use seasonal vegetables - the brought ones may contain nitrates;
- can cause bloating and flatulence;
- undesirable cabbage soup for those who have problems with the gastrointestinal tract.
It is difficult to say which of these soups is better.
For example, those who adhere to proper nutrition and want to lose extra pounds should choose cabbage soup - they are lighter and less high in calories, this soup is well suited for the hot summer season, since it does not cause the sensation severity.
But at the same time, borscht is a more satisfying dish, especially if it is served according to the rules along with donuts and bacon.
