Korean herring will definitely compete with store-bought salted fish. It is tender, tasty, saturated with spices and moderately spicy. Even those who don't like spicy foods will definitely try a bite or two.
Herring marinated in tomato juice is a very budgetary Korean dish. But that doesn't make it any less tasty. This appetizer always flies with a bang at the festive table.

It is not at all difficult to cook a Korean herring snack at home, and the products are more than affordable. If you would like to make the herring more spicy and aromatic, then add your favorite spices. This will only make the dish tastier.
This appetizer is perfect for a festive table and a family dinner.

Ingredients:

  • frozen herring - 2 pcs.
  • onions - 2 pcs.

Marinade:

  • tomato juice - 200 ml
  • sunflower oil - 120 ml
  • apple cider vinegar - 100 ml (table vinegar 9% - 80 ml)
  • salt - 1 tbsp. l.
  • sugar - 1 tsp l.
  • ground black pepper - 1 tsp l.
  • ground hot pepper - 1 tsp l.

Step by step recipe

1. First, let's prepare the herring marinade.


Pour 1 tbsp into a saucepan. tomato juice and 120 g of vegetable oil.
Put the stewpan on the fire, bring to a boil and turn off.

2. Immediately, in the hot marinade, pour 100 ml of apple cider vinegar.You can also take 9% table vinegar, you will need 80 ml.
We pour 1 tbsp. l salt, 1 tsp. sugar, 1 tsp. ground black pepper and 1 tsp. l. red hot ground pepper. Mix everything well and leave to cool.
The marinade turns out to be moderately spicy, since when it gets into hot oil, the pepper partially loses its properties.

3. We take 2 fresh-frozen herrings, already washed and gutted from the insides. We take not salted herring.
We make an incision along the entire ridge and remove the skin.
Then carefully separate one fillet from the bones with our hands.
Separate the second fillet in the same way.

4. Remove the bones with fish bone tongs or by hand.
All 4 fillets are cut into portions.

5. Cut 2 medium-sized onions into half rings.

6. Put chopped onion and prepared herring fillets in a bowl or jar.
We fill everything with the prepared already cooled marinade.

7. Cover the bowl with herring and put in the refrigerator to marinate for a day, or better for two.

Put the finished pickled herring on a plate and serve.
The Korean style herring turned out to be very tasty and moderately spicy. The finished meal can be served with a side dish such as hot potatoes or rice. And you can also use it as a snack, putting herring on small pieces of bread.
