Recently I was in “Svetofor” in search of sweets, which are not scary to eat and can be bought for a penny. While looking for them, I found a huge pallet of Easter cakes. When I looked at the price, I realized that I urgently needed to take this cake for review. But I will tell you about the price a little later, and now I propose to take a look at the cake itself.
By the way, if you are wondering what sweets from "Traffic Light" are not scary to eat, read my selection of 7 sweets, I will leave a link at the end of the article.
What does it look like
The cake is packed in a transparent plastic bag through which you can see the product "face". Easter cake looks like the most ordinary Easter cake. First of all, I was surprised by its size - it is very large for its price.
Covered on top with sugar glaze, which, however, in some places stuck to the bag. Below is a traditional paper mold with the letters “XB”. Nothing more interesting, so I propose to cut open the cake and see what's inside.
How does it look in section
But the cut surprised me. The Easter cake has a pretty good texture. True, there were almost no raisins in my kulich. I tried and counted only 11 raisins for the whole cake. Perhaps it was just that I was so lucky, but something tells me that they regretted the raisins here. It's time to try and find out the taste.
What is the taste and composition
But before trying, I suggest studying the composition of the Easter cake. Still, given its price, the composition can be very unexpected.
Hmm... The composition of the cake is far from ideal. Here you will find various flour improvers such as "Magimix". Moreover, there are 2 different types of this improver: with a blue label and a white one. In addition, the composition contains a water-retaining agent E420ii - this is sorbitol or sorbitol syrup.
It is added because of its ability to draw in moisture and keep it inside the product. Due to this, the cake does not dry longer, which means that the shelf life increases (it is here for as much as 30 days).
But sorbitol has another peculiarity. If you overeat it, then sorbitol has a laxative effect. I will try carefully, in the hope that it will carry me through, or rather, it will not carry me through, or rather, well, you get the idea.
The cake tasted, as I expected, mediocre. If it were not for the sweet icing, it would be completely impossible to eat Easter cake. But the strangest thing is that the cake is quite dry, and despite the fact that it contains a water-retaining agent. It's time to tell you how much I paid for this cake.
How much is
In the "Traffic light" this cake cost me 104 rubles 20 kopecks per 600 grams, which means that 1 kilogram costs 173 rubles. At the moment, this is the lowest price of all Easter cakes that I have seen over the past few years. Is it worth the money - I'll tell you in the summary.
Bottom line: is it worth buying
As for me, this cake is very mediocre, albeit quite edible. But I would never put such a cake on my Easter table.
Would you buy such a cake?
