This dish is like a symbol of Italy, as its colors are like the flag of the country and already, for sure, a national treasure.
Traditionally, "Caprese" includes only tomatoes, basil and mozzarella cheese. This not very tricky appetizer is dressed with good olive oil.
But we will go the other way. More complex and more delicious. All ingredients are below.
Ingredients:
- ripe tomatoes
- mozzarella cheese
- pesto sauce
How to cook:
Just cut the tomatoes and cheese into equal slices. Lay out alternating circles on a flat dish, nicely, in a circle.
Ingredients for pesto sauce:
- half bunch (leaves) green basil
- 30 gr. hard cheese
- 50 ml olive oil
- 1-2 cloves of garlic
- 2 hours l. pine nuts (you can take walnuts or sunflower seeds)
How to cook:
1. Put everything in a blender bowl and beat on high speed until smooth. Or use a mortar and pestle it all.
2. Pesto sauce is usually not salted or pepper, but some of them lack the salt or acidity of the lemon. Variations have already begun, as sometimes even lemon zest is added to the pesto.
The sauce is used as an addition to various dishes. In our case, for an appetizer of tomatoes and mozzarella cheese.
