Sausages in dough are a popular fast food all over the world, which is sold not only on the street, but also in canteens and cafes. And they came up with a dish in Germany. Translated from German, sausage in dough (Würstchen im Schlafrock) means "sausage in a nightgown" - a very cute name, isn't it!!! It is very easy to cook them at home, you only need the excellent quality sausages themselves and yeast puff pastry.
Ingredients:
Yeast puff pastry - 500 g
Sausages - 12 pcs.
Chicken egg - 1 pc.
Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
Step by step recipe:
1. Prepare food. If the dough has been frozen, then it must be thawed in advance and it is better to do this in the most delicate way, transferring it from the freezer to the refrigerator in the evening. By morning it will be ready for cutting. Free the sausages from the casing, if it is polyethylene, the natural casing can be left.
Cover a suitable baking sheet with baking paper, turn on the oven to warm up to a temperature of 215-220 degrees.
2. Unfold the roll of dough, cut off the uneven edge and cut the layer into strips 1.5-2 cm wide.
3. Place the sausage on the edge of the dough strip.
4. Wrap it over, overlapping the dough while stretching it slightly with your hand.
5. When baking, the sausages will decrease slightly in size, therefore it is better to wrap them so that the ends of the sausage protrude slightly from the "shirt".
Put the prepared blanks on a baking sheet at a short distance from each other, cover with foil and leave at room temperature for 10-15 minutes to activate the yeast.
6. Beat the chicken egg lightly with a fork and brush over the surface of the dough, then sprinkle with sesame seeds.
7. Bake products in a preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until tender. During this time, the dough will increase in volume and brown well, and the sausages, on the contrary, will shrink a little.
8. Transfer the hot dogs in the batter onto a wire rack and let cool slightly, then serve with your favorite sauces, such as mustard seeds.
Fast food cooked at home is a completely different level of fast food, because a dish has been cooked up with soul, its you do not need to eat on the run, but you can have a leisurely meal with your family, telling interesting stories to each other. Here, for example, is another funny story about the name of a sausage in a dough: in England this pastry is called "Pigs in a blanket", and it is translated as "pig in a blanket".
Enjoy your meal!
