Stewed cabbage with potatoes and sausages

To prepare stewed cabbage with potatoes and sausages, a minimum of products is required, and even a novice cook can cope with the preparation. This dish is familiar and loved by us since childhood.

It will turn out to be more aromatic if cooked with smoked sausages. In addition, instead of them, it is permissible to use ham, boiled sausage or sausages. Cabbage can be stewed with both fresh and canned tomatoes in their own juice. The dish will be equally tasty, regardless of whether it is cooked in a cauldron, in a pan or in a slow cooker.

Ingredients:

Potatoes - 600 g

Carrots - 1 pc.

Bulb onions - 1 pc.

Tomatoes - 300 g

Sausages - 400 g

Vegetable oil - 50 ml

Fresh cabbage - 300 g

Salt and spices to taste

Step by step recipe:

Step 1 - Prepare products according to the list.

Step 2 - Cut the peeled potatoes into large wedges. We wash the tomatoes, remove the stalk, cut it in the same way.

Step 3 - Heat vegetable oil in a pan, preferably refined, fry the potatoes over medium heat on all sides for 5 minutes.

Step 4 - In parallel, we prepare the rest of the vegetables: we peel and rinse the cabbage, onions and carrots. Chop the cabbage into strips, three carrots on a coarse grater, cut the onions in half rings.

Step 5 - Add vegetables to potatoes, cover the pan with a lid.

Step 6 - Simmer for 5 minutes, then stir.

Step 7 - Add tomatoes, salt and spices to the pan - dried basil or thyme works great. Stir, cover with a lid. We continue to cook for another 8-10 minutes. During this time, the tomatoes will release a sufficient amount of their own juice. If the vegetables are young, reduce the time to 5 minutes. You can replace fresh or canned tomatoes with tomato paste: dilute a tablespoon of tomato in 150 ml of water.

Step 8 - Cut the sausages, add to the vegetables, mix.

Step 9 - Cook for another 5 minutes under the lid. Reduce to 3 minutes if stewed with summer vegetables. We enhance, if desired, the aroma of the dish with fresh herbs.

Step 10 - Stewed cabbage with potatoes and sausages is ready. Serve hot to the table.
