I really like homemade drinks: compotes, jelly, uzvars. I think they are much tastier and healthier than store-bought ones. The whole summer compotes are brewed at our house. They not only quench thirst, but also saturate the body with the necessary vitamins. For their preparation, I constantly use combinations of various products, each time getting new tastes.
A very successful drink is obtained from an assortment of apples and berries, especially currants. Bright color and rich aroma leave no one indifferent, currant gives the compote a slight sourness and special piquancy.
In winter, you can use frozen sets, they are sold in all supermarkets, but if the size of the freezer allows, it is better to make the blanks yourself. Plus it's very simple. Put the washed berries and fruits in food containers and send them to the freezer, that's all. You do not need to defrost them before cooking compote. I recommend trying it!
Ingredients:
Water - 1.5 liters.
Apples - 2 pcs.
Currants - ½ cup
Sugar - 2 tablespoons
Step by step recipe:
1. Prepare the required set of ingredients. Currants can be used both black and red, or a combination of both. It is better to choose apples of dense, sweet and sour varieties. The amount of sugar is approximate, add it to your liking.
2. Wash apples and berries well under running water. It is convenient to wash the currants in a colander, so the berries are washed, and at the same time the dirty water flows down. Cut the washed apples into slices. If necessary, trim the peel and remove the stalks from the currants.
3. Pour the required amount of water into the cooking pot. Put it on fire and boil it. Pour in sugar and add apples and currants. If you have mint at home, put a twig, it will give the compote freshness.
4. Wait for the second boil, boil for 5 minutes and take a sample for sugar. If everything suits you, remove the pan from the heat and leave to cool completely. Strain the cooled drink through a strainer.
5. Delicious, vitamin compote from apples and currants is ready.
Put it in the refrigerator for a couple of hours and drink it chilled.
