Basil drink with lemon

Basil drink is not only tasty and very spicy, but also healthy, because it has a calming, but at the same time tonic effect. It improves digestion and removes toxins from the body. Once you have tasted such a drink, you will forever give it your heart - the aroma alone is worth it!

Many culinary specialists prefer to brew a mass of basil without bringing it to a boil, but this way the liquid does not absorb all the taste of the spicy plant, therefore, it is best to protomat the drink on minimal heat for a while and cool slightly - then you can fully enjoy its flavor qualities.

It is best to serve the broth with honey, cooled to 35 degrees, since it is advisable not to add honey to hot dishes, because it loses its benefits. To make a recipe drink, choose only the red basil variety - it will give both color and aroma.

Ingredients:

Red basil - 1 bunch

Water - 0.8 l

Sugar - 100 g

Lemon - 3 slices

How to cook:

1. Rinse red basil very thoroughly in water, as dirt can often be on the bottom of the plant. Place the washed stems in a saucepan.

2. Add granulated sugar if you plan to add it instead of honey - both children and adults are often allergic to such a sweet product. Slice a lemon and place 2-3 slices in a container. You can replace citrus with concentrated lemon juice or citric acid.

3. Pour in hot water, ideally boiling water. Place the container on the stove and turn on maximum heat. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to minimum, cover and simmer for about 10-15 minutes.

4. Then turn off the heat and let the broth cool to 40 degrees. Its color will directly depend on the amount of mass of the plant and the volume of water, but do not rely on bright purple shade - for this color you need at least 2 bunches of spice and only 0.5 l boiling water. And so the broth turns out to be light lilac.

You can add honey of any sort of your choice to the cooled drink, and mix it if you plan to replace granulated sugar with it according to the recipe. Pour the colorful spicy liquid into glasses or cups, a jug, serve warm - in this form, the taste of the drink is most revealed and you can feel the whole bouquet of bright aromatic notes. It is not recommended to mix it with any dish or pastry; the broth is drunk separately, enjoying every sip.
