To shorten the cooking time for jacket potatoes, it is best to boil them in the microwave. To do this, use varieties with thin skin, all specimens should be about the same size - medium is better, large tubers may not bake inside.

If you are cooking jacket potatoes in the microwave for later use in salads, then it is not necessary to add additional spices. When baking root vegetables for a side dish, I advise you to supplement it with aromatic spices, and grease the skin with vegetable oil. Then the potatoes will be delicious to eat with the peel.

Ingredients:

Potatoes - 600 gr.

Water - 50 ml.

Vegetable oil - 20 ml.

Bay leaf - 1 pc.

Paprika - 0.5 tsp

A mixture of Provencal herbs - 1 tsp

Ground garlic - 1 tsp

Thyme - 3 branches

Parsley for serving - 20 gr.

Onion head for serving - ΒΌ part

Salt, pepper - to taste

Prepare food.

Wash the potatoes without peeling the skins until they are perfectly clean. You can use a kitchen brush to do this. Next, wipe the tubers with a napkin to remove moisture.

Place the potatoes in a glass or other microwave-safe container. Grease each tuber on top with vegetable oil. It is convenient to do this with a silicone brush.

Sprinkle the oiled potatoes with a mixture of herbs, paprika and ground garlic. The latter, if desired, can be used fresh, pre-chopping the cloves with a garlic.

Add salt and pepper according to your taste. Break the bay leaf into two parts for a more pronounced aroma, lay on the potatoes.

Pour in a small amount of water so that it is only on the bottom. You don't need to pour much. Due to the evaporation of water, the potato will be softer and its skin will be softer.

Top the potatoes with thyme sprigs before placing them in the oven. By the way, you can use it as a ground spice.

Close the container with the contents tightly with a glass lid, place in the microwave. Record the maximum power (approximately 700-900 watts). The cooking time for potatoes at high power is 10 minutes. But, if your microwave oven has a lower one, then the baking period can last up to 15 minutes. The size of the tubers themselves is also important here: the smaller they are, the faster they will cook. Choose medium sized root vegetables for the best solution.

When the microwave gives the signal to finish, do not rush to get the potatoes, let them stand for a little longer under the lid inside the oven.

After removing the tubers, pierce them through with a knife. If the blade goes in without problems, then the jacket potatoes are ready.

Before serving, fill the dish with rings of fresh or marinated onion in vinegar, sprinkle with chopped herbs.
