"Turtle" salad with chicken and walnuts

Hello honest people. Today my piggy bank of Soviet salads is being replenished with a bright representative, almost listed in the "Red Book" salad "Turtle". I saw it on the table a long time ago and the last time I cooked it about 8 years ago. But judging by the traffic on the Internet, this salad does not suffer from lack of attention. Today we will prepare it.

Ingredients:

Chicken fillet -250 g;

Green apple - 1 large;

Eggs - 3 pcs.;

Onion - ½ small head;

Cheese - 80 g;

Walnuts - 80 g;

Yoghurt to taste;

Salt to taste.

How to cook:

Prepare food.

Pour chicken fillet with cold water, bring to a boil and cook over low heat so that it barely boils until tender. This usually takes 30 minutes. Then remove the meat and allow to cool. Cut into cubes.

Cook eggs hard-boiled until tender (7-8 minutes) and divide into whites and yolks. Leave one yolk on the decor, and grate the rest. I left two to be on the safe side.

Peel the onion and cut it into very small, neat cubes.

Put the chopped onion into a sieve and pour over with boiling water. Then rinse with cold running water.

Grate cheese.

Put the grated protein on a dish. Brush with yogurt. Season with salt and pepper.

Put the chicken fillet on top of the protein and add a spoonful or two of yogurt. Chicken is often a little dry, so a yoghurt dressing won't hurt.

Put the onion next.

And on top - a peeled and grated apple. In my case, 2 small ones. If desired, grease with yogurt again. But there were a lot of apples and I refused it.

The next layer is grated cheese.

Next - yolk grated on a fine grater.

Grind the walnuts finely enough in a blender or coffee grinder.

Cover the whole salad with nut crumbs. If suddenly not enough - grind and add.

Time for amazing decor 😉 Then I decided to abandon the idea of ​​making a shell-shaped decoration from mayonnaise strips. For my fine mental organization, this is already too much. So I limited myself to a turtle crown, a peacock's tail, and an egg white head and legs. My daughter liked it 🙂

Turtle salad is ready.

Conclusions: I liked this option, with the replacement of a whole can of mayonnaise with homemade yogurt. It turned out to be a rather traditional, flaky salad, which you won’t surprise anyone with, but quite tasty, with a slight sourness of an apple, a pleasant shade of nuts and juicy, thanks to yogurt, chicken. Perhaps I will even repeat it.
