August is the season of "gifts of the forest". We are used to thinking that this product is as good as meat and vegetables. But is it really so? Nutritionist Natalya Kruglova told about the benefits of mushrooms.

Benefits and harms - what is important to remember

Vitamins are not the main thing

Undoubtedly, mushrooms contain vitamins and nutrients. But there are not so many of them to consider this product only as a source of nutrients. In addition, the content of vitamins almost does not differ from the type of mushroom: both boletus and russula contain almost the same amount of elements.

They are mainly composed of water and dietary fiber. Despite this, mushrooms are still quite heavy food.

And all because of the presence of chitin in the composition, which is not absorbed by our body. This substance passes unchanged through our body, which can cause severity, the appearance of abdominal pain, bloating, especially in those who already suffer from gastrointestinal diseases. To avoid stomach problems, the maximum dosage at a time is no more than 150 g.

But still it is worth focusing on your own well-being. Also, you need to take into account the cooking method: if you fry mushrooms in a large amount of oil, this will create an additional load on the body. Moreover, such a dish is difficult to perceive even by people with a healthy stomach.

To reduce the load, it is recommended to boil the mushrooms, as this will partially destroy the chitin, especially the lamellar mushrooms.

Without harm to the figure

If we talk about calories, then a lot depends on what kind of mushroom dishes you like. By themselves, any mushrooms do not differ in nutritional value, but at the same time they quickly absorb fats.

Therefore, mushrooms fried in a large amount of oil can cause extra pounds to appear. But mushroom soup or stewed mushrooms with vegetables do not carry such a danger.

There are not many calories in pickled and salted foods. Nevertheless, they can hardly be called useful and harmless products either.

Such mushrooms, like other pickles, firstly, strongly whet the appetite. If you snack on them before the main meal, it threatens to severe overeating.

If you keep an eye on your figure and do not want to gain extra pounds, it is better to leave such a snack "for dessert".

Safety precautions when eating mushrooms

It is important to remember that mushrooms tend to accumulate poisons and harmful substances in themselves. Therefore, they should be collected away from roads and factories.

But even in this case, the risk of going off the product does not disappear.

To avoid health problems, several important safety precautions must be followed:

  • Do not use plastic containers, bags for collection. If there is no air access, the product will quickly deteriorate.
  • You shouldn't delay processing mushrooms. At most one day after collection, if they are not cleaned, the product will deteriorate.
  • Wormy mushrooms need to be thrown away - waste products of such an organism can cause allergies and severe poisoning.
