Some people self-confidently assert that it is possible to become infected with helminths only if dogs or cats live at home. But in fact, parasites can enter our body with food, even banal bread, not to mention fish and meat. But there are a number of foods that are most dangerous.

Raw fish

The danger of raw fish is self-evident. There is a misconception that river species are the most dangerous, but marine ones do not contain any parasites.

However, this is far from the case - any raw fish can cause helminthiasis. Therefore, it is better to buy it frozen, as this reduces the risk of infection to zero. If you do not want to buy such a product (for example, you are afraid that you will buy ice instead of fish), just send the fresh carcass to the freezer for a couple of days.

Crayfish

Saves only that most often crayfish are served boiled.

Their main feature is that the body of crayfish can contain a dangerous parasite - the lung fluke. Once in the body of another carrier, it affects not only the lungs, but also the muscles, in difficult cases, the brain. Crabs can also transmit this parasite, but they usually appear on our table after freezing or in boiled form.

Seafood

Despite the fact that most types of seafood we eat after heat treatment, some it is still customary to use it raw: shrimp, langoustines, from which tartare is made and others dishes.

However, the inhabitants of Russia are saved by the fact that most often the shrimp are sold frozen, in which there are no parasites. But if you are going on vacation to hot countries, try not to eat raw seafood.

Meat

Raw meat is always dangerous. Moreover, many believe that only pork is contaminated, but beef can bring many unpleasant surprises.

For example, if you like uncooked steaks or tartilla, you can get a "bonus" in the form of parasites, which is why it is so important to buy products in checked places and require, if necessary, an opinion from a sanitary laboratory, indicating cleanliness product.

Dangerous in this regard and game, and any. For example, there is a dangerous misconception that elk is a pure product in this regard, but this is not the case - there can be parasites in any meat. Therefore, it is so important to avoid eating uncooked game, carefully examine the product before cooking and buy it in trusted places.

The same applies to poultry, which, in addition to parasites, can also infect you with salmonellosis.

Even if you buy meat from farms, you need to boil it to the end - there should be no pinkish parts inside. Frying it to the end is also important: there should be no pink pieces inside. Raw eggs are similarly dangerous.

Products after low temperature cooking

Nowadays, the technique of preparing sous vide dishes is very popular: the product is packed in a vacuum and boiled at a low temperature for several hours. Fish is usually cooked at temperatures up to +50 degrees, meat up to +80. And this reduces the risk of helmentization by up to 90%.

True, if the manufacturer did not follow any cooking technologies or used raw materials already infected with parasites, there is still a danger of encountering helminths.

Jamon and other delicacies

Jamon, various sausages and other pork delicacies, in principle, are not harmful to our health.

But one can be sure of this only under one condition - if the manufacturer followed the cooking technology. So, jamon is not dangerous, since it goes through the stage of "cold drying" (although it is not prepared with subzero, but low temperature), but one cannot be sure that there were no failures in this process and violations.

Plant products

Plant foods also pose a risk of contamination. However, a lot of factors must coincide in order to get infected from a bunch of dill. For example, the larvae of some parasites "wait" in the soil, as a result, if you use greens or root vegetables, you can become infected. Therefore, it is so important to wash them thoroughly.

How to avoid helminth infection?

The most important thing here is proper heat treatment, sufficient to remove a huge share of the risk of parasite infestation. Products should be baked, but better cooked.

In addition, it is better to purchase goods either in stores or in the markets - there they are checked by sanitary services, as a result, the risk of infection is reduced to zero. But it is not worth buying fish or meat from fishermen, farmers, off the road.
