Global warming: 5 food items that could disappear forever

The climate is inevitably changing. And this poses a rather dangerous problem for humanity - the disappearance of many of the food we are used to. This is due not only to a gradual increase in the Earth's temperature, but also to constant droughts, fires, floods and other extreme weather events.

Some varieties of apples

A more universal fruit could not be imagined. And if any exotic fruit is found on our tables well if once a week, then apples are evident almost every day.

But back at the end of 2011, a number of scientists conducted research and published its results, which can be shocking. According to the information they received, some fruit trees that need a recovery period may disappear due to global warming.

And modern farmers today are concerned about one question: how to develop a new variety that needs a shorter recovery period. But the fact is that such fruits will no longer be as tasty and juicy as we are used to.

Other scientists from Japan have found that the rise in temperature is one of the reasons for the faster ripening of this fruit. And as a result, the fruits become softer and sweeter.

Seafood

An acute problem of the modern world is ocean acidification. This is caused by the large amount of carbon dioxide that is released into the atmosphere from vigorous human activities.

But few people think that this process can negatively affect the inhabitants of the oceans and seas. Lobsters, shrimps, and molluscs will be the first to start to die out, since a lack of calcium will lead to the inability to form their skeleton. And many of the scientists argue that the change in the alkaline level of the seas will hit pink salmon the most, which can disappear literally in 10-15 years.

Another problem is industrial waste that people dump into the seas. The rise in air temperature makes them even more dangerous.

So, seafood lovers can soon find it very difficult.

Chocolate

Anyone knows that chocolate is a natural way to deal with stress, as it activates the production of serotonin. And the loss of such a product can lead to serious problems.

And as many scientists say, this may well happen literally in 10 years. This is due to the fact that as a result of global warming, the sea level will rise. As a result, the land on which these plants are grown will become unusable.

Another problem is that not only chocolate will be lost - the producers themselves will suffer, because for most of the inhabitants of Ghana and Cote D'Ivoire, where cocoa beans are grown, their sale is the only way of earning. And there will be no cocoa beans, there will be no livelihood.

Wine

If humanity surpasses the 2% increase in temperature on the planet, wine will become a pleasant past.

The fact is that grapes are a plant that is very susceptible to temperature fluctuations.

And today the changes have already affected France, which is one of the main supplying countries of this exquisite drink. Extremely high temperatures, hail, heavy rainfall, drought - all this ultimately leads to severe damage to plants during their growing period. And too mild winters do not allow the grapes to rest, which negatively affects the yield. And more and more countries are faced with this problem today.

French fries

Surprisingly, even fast food lovers can be unlucky due to the dramatic climate change on the planet. For example, in Peru, where hundreds of species of this root crop are grown today, a crisis is already outlined. Local farmers note that the sharp warming of the earth's surface is forcing them to move their lands to other high-mountain areas.

And local scientists note that even the Andes are not eternal in this matter. And according to their calculations, in about 35-40 years there will be nowhere to grow potatoes, including in the highlands.

And the fact is that as a result of this, not only the favorite fries, but also chips, mashed potatoes, in general, any dishes based on this root vegetable may disappear. And given the fact that this product is a national dish in many countries of the world, our world will face serious changes.

But we need to look even more globally: potatoes are in third place in the list of the most important food crops. And if it disappears, people will definitely be very bad.
