Compote is a well-known and very popular drink in home cooking. It is often served at the end of lunch or dinner and is even included on the holiday menu.

During the ripening season of berries and fruits, hostesses cook fresh compotes. But for the winter they make canned ones, which retain their freshness for a long time.

Compotes from frozen berries and fruits can be cooked regardless of the season; it is enough to make preparations in advance - to freeze ripe fruits.

Unfortunately, the “strawberry” season is very short, and both adults and children love the taste of these berries. And this is where frozen strawberries come to the rescue. It's like hello from summer. Frozen strawberry compote is prepared very quickly, and you can serve it both warm and chilled.

Ingredients:

Strawberries (frozen) - 400 g

Water - 2 l

Sugar - 4 tablespoons

Vanilla extract - 1 tsp

Lemon juice - ½ tbsp.

Step by step recipe:

Prepare the ingredients: you do not need to defrost the strawberries.

To taste, at the end of the compote preparation, you can add vanillin. It can be vanilla sugar, extract, or crystalline vanillin. With a delicate vanilla aroma, it will be even tastier.

Change the amount of sugar to taste and depending on the sweetness of the berries.

Bring the required amount of water to a boil. Add sugar and lemon juice. Stir until the granulated sugar is completely dissolved.

Let the water boil again and add the frozen strawberries. Bring the compote to a boil and simmer for about 5 minutes (from the moment it boils).

Add the vanilla extract a minute before cooking. Then remove the pan from heat, cover and let the compote brew at room temperature for 20-30 minutes.

The berries began to look unpresentable, but they have already done their job - they gave all their taste, color and aroma to the liquid, so they can be removed. Strain the drink and cool to the desired temperature.

Now the frozen strawberry compote can be served by pouring it into portioned glasses.

If desired, add fresh berries or mint to the glasses as a decoration. This will not change the taste of the drink, but it will definitely make it more elegant.

The cooled compote can be stored in the refrigerator for 1-2 days, although it is believed that fresh compotes are prepared immediately before serving and cannot be stored further.

Bon Appetit!
