I grew up in the years of general scarcity, when even a broken cup turned into a tragedy. With coordination of movements, despite dancing and fencing, my relationship was difficult. Especially if "under the arm" they said "Look, don't drop it!"
I tried so hard to accurately convey everything that I often stumbled on the threshold or slipped - and booby! Mom sighed: "You are my dumb-ass," grandmother briefly summed up: "Dumb, dumb daughter!"
Having already become almost an adult, she asked why I was a “sloppy daughter”. It turned out that my frivolous dad also always dropped everything.
And then somehow he did not coordinate his movements and ended up in someone else's bed, after which he was expelled from home forever.
... The groom somehow sighed - they say, parents are always itching: "Be careful, do not lose, do not drop." I laughed with relief: "A couple of crooked idiots, that's who we are." The decision was made: never to make drama out of a broken cup or a dropped saucepan and not to speak to each other arm in arm.
We never scolded our sons for this, only begged them not to forget jackets, hats, sports uniforms at school. All of them had stripes from the inside - name, surname, phone number, but they did not always return the lost to us.
Once my blood pressure dropped dramatically. Mom rushed to help me. While she was changing her shoes, the tonometer in my purse was in my hands. But as soon as I heard: “Look, don't drop it!”, My hands trembled, and the scarce device fell to the floor. Fortunately, it didn't crash. Then I told my mother that we do not say such words to each other or to children, and she took this into account.
Once I decided with my mother to share homemade assorted jams. It was raining outside, but I put the can in my backpack, took my umbrella and walked quietly. When I took it out, Mom started to say: "Look ...", I had to say: "Silence!" All right, pah-pah.
The years go by. The eldest son turned 25 when he introduced us to his fiancee. Everyone liked Veronica: she was clever, friendly, calm.
True, the lock on her boot will jam, or the scarf will fall to the floor, but we are no stranger to it.
The wedding was very fun. The son picked up the bride in his arms and spun her around. And here…
Well, you guessed it, I think: one of the friends shouted: "Hey, look, don't drop it!" - "A?" - the groom turned around, lost his balance and plopped down on the floor, not letting Veronichka out of his hands.
Thank God, none of them were hurt. But it became clear that the ban on the words “Look, don't drop” will have to be passed on from generation to generation.
