Turnip is an undeservedly forgotten vegetable, although people began to grow it several millennia ago, but even then, many nations valued it much less than, for example, beets or potatoes. She was considered food more suitable for slaves.

However, in Russia, turnip was very popular because of its cheapness, unpretentiousness in growing and excellent ability for long-term storage. It completely replaced potatoes - it was fried, and boiled, and steamed, and dried, and dried. And how many nutrients this small vegetable contains: a huge amount of calcium, magnesium, vitamins C and B.

Now, not every child knows what a turnip looks like, a fairy tale about which he read. And even more so, few people cook something out of it.

The saying "Easier than a steamed turnip" has reached our days. Indeed, what could be simpler than cooking this little-known dish? Let's cook this so-called steamed turnip in the oven. Ingredients:

Turnip - 1 pc.

Butter - 30 g.

Water - 6 tablespoons

Salt - 1 pinch

Prepare all the foods on the list. Choose your turnips with all responsibility. The vegetable should be strong enough to the touch, without black blotches. Turnip can be yellow - these varieties are grown in Russia, or white - mainly imported.

Take fatty butter, at least 82.5%.

Use a thin knife to remove the peel and cut the turnip into circles about 5 mm thick.

We need a ceramic pot with a lid. Fold the chopped vegetable into it and add 6 tablespoons of water. Do not pour a lot of liquid, because the turnip should be steamed, not boiled.

If you don't have the right utensils, you can easily grab a baking sleeve and cook in it in the same way.

Add some salt, cover the pot. Preheat the oven to 170 degrees in advance, place the dishes at the level of the middle of the oven and leave for 45 minutes.
