Light citrus compote, of course, resembles lemonade. Only its peculiarity is in a tart aftertaste, naturalness and absence of "prickly" soda. I think this drink will be to the liking of those who choose velvet decoctions of blackthorn, lingonberry and viburnum, Christmas non-alcoholic punches, mulled wine and uzvars.

Ingredients:

Water - 1000 ml

Orange - 1 pc.

Lemon - 0.5 pcs.

Sugar - 30 g

To cook orange and lemon compote at home, take the products on the list. The volume of water can be increased for a less saturated drink.

If you avoid using granulated sugar, replace it with natural honey. Then pour honey into the ready-made compote, removing it from the heat - save the nutrients to the maximum. Also, sweetness can be abandoned altogether; an alluring citrus aroma is enough.

Wash large orange and lemon thoroughly with a hard sponge, remove plaque and dirt from the peel. Cut clean fruits into circles, slices or in another way. Remove the bones now or catch them in boiling water.

If you strongly dislike the soft woody / zesty bitterness inherent in citrus, choose another cooking method - pour fresh fresh juice (juice) into boiling water, boil for a minute with sugar and cool to desired temperature. In this type, orange-lemon compote is delicate, from the category of children.

Bring the water to an active boil over the top heat, load only the orange slices. We do not touch the lemons yet so that the bitterness does not become excessive. With constant bubbling, boil for 7-10 minutes.

Throw in the sugar, stir and let it boil for another minute or a half until the sugar crystals are completely dissolved. We remove from the stove.

Add lemon wedges, set the lid and steam for the last 5-10 minutes. Since there is a lot of fibrous pulp, strain the compote through a fine sieve for transparency.

By the way, the remaining pieces of tropical fruits can be again poured with boiling water and insisted under the lid. In the summer, cool this drink and treat it with ice cubes, it perfectly tones up.
