My mom stopped buying yogurt at the store: I showed her three easy ways to make it at home without a yogurt maker

There are many easy ways to make yogurt at home. It turns out cheaper and more useful! And you don't need a special yogurt maker. Everything is very simple!

We buy milk from farmers. Very delicious! I must boil it, then let it cool to a temperature of 38-42 degrees. You can use UHT milk (then just heat it to the specified temperature).

It's just above body temperature. You can try it with your finger. But I usually use a thermometer. My milk has cooled to a temperature of 40.9 degrees. You can add sourdough. This is very important! Starter culture should not be added to hot milk (temperature should not be higher than 42 degrees!)

Pour a bag of starter culture into a saucepan and mix well. Any sourdough will do! You can buy starter cultures in almost any pharmacy chain or in grocery supermarkets. I will show below what kind of starter I use. I must say right away - this is not an advertisement! It is not necessary to use just such starters. But I know there will be questions, so I'll leave a link at the end of the article.

Starter culture sachet is designed for milk volume from 1 to 3 liters.

And now there are several ways to make yogurt. I'll show THREE that I use.

The first way

It is suitable for those who have a multicooker. My slow cooker has a yogurt program. I just push a button and wait. But you can manually set the temperature to 40 degrees and the time to 8 hours.

I pour the prepared milk with sourdough into small containers and place them in the multicooker bowl (scroll through).

If there are no such containers, you can use small glass jars or just pour milk directly into the multicooker bowl.

Here I have almost finished yogurt))

Second way

Suitable for those who have a vegetable dryer. It can also be used to make yogurt. I pour the milk into small glass jars, cover it with lids and put it in the dryer. In the same way, I set the temperature to 40 degrees and the time to 8 hours (scroll through).

You can also use a conventional oven, convection oven or airfryer (if you can set the temperature in them to 40 degrees).

Third way

Suitable for those who have no multicooker, no dryer, no airfryer and no opportunity to set a low temperature in the oven. This method requires only a saucepan with a lid and a large towel (you can use a blanket, sweater or warm jacket instead of a towel).

I just wrap the pot with warm milk well and leave it there for 8-10 hours (scroll through).

And one more important point. After 8 hours, I must put the yogurt in the refrigerator for at least one hour. The yogurt becomes thicker and tastier when cooled.

All! You can try! I love this pure yoghurt, and children eat it with jam. In the video at the end of the article, I showed in more detail how to prepare yogurt. There are also three more recipes for pies with apples (one of which is homemade yogurt). Look, you will like it))

As promised, I'll show you what kind of starter I use (I'll say it again - this is not an advertisement!). You can use any starter you are used to. But I am happy with this one, so I have been buying this one for 3 years already)) You can, by the way, read the reviews about sourdoughs by the link below.
