I have known this recipe for a long time. And recently I shared the recipe with my sister. She cooks almost every day now.
For the filling, you can take what is "lying around" in the refrigerator or in the kitchen cabinet.
It can be the remnants of mashed potatoes from dinner or even the remnants of kazhi (with buckwheat it turns out deliciously), cottage cheese, cheese, mushrooms, beans, peas or any thick jam. If this is not the case, you can take fried onions with carrots (or even just onions) as a filling.
But it turns out the best if you fry the onion with finely chopped pickles or pickled cucumbers. I cook such a filling in two pans - in one I fry the onions in vegetable oil, in the second - cucumbers. Then I mix and it's done!
I cut the crusts from the bread.
I dip a slice of bread in the water, then squeeze it well to remove the excess water. BUT you don't need to keep in water for a long time, otherwise the bread will get very wet - and nothing will work out.
I spread the filling on a soaked slice of bread and form a "pie". The bread sticks well. It's not difficult at all.
It remains to fry.
And that's it! The appetizer is ready! We call this dish "laziest pies". Crunchy and delicious! Although not very useful, of course...
What else I cook from stale bread, I showed in the video below. Take a look - you will definitely like it!
