The dish I always cook for Easter

Admin

When my grandmother was alive, almost all relatives gathered in her house for Easter. And she cooked this potato with meat in the oven. Everyone ate - both children and adults. Because it was simply impossible to refuse this delicious and very aromatic dish!

And now, according to tradition, we prepare this dish for Easter every year. And we cook exactly according to the recipe that I remember from childhood.

It does not turn out so deliciously in a cast-iron saucepan, or in a glass or in a ceramic form. I don’t know why. Tried, compared - not that.

Therefore, we cook exactly as before. Of course, not as much as my grandmother cooked (she put three or four three-liter jars in the oven at once. But now one is enough for us.

If you enjoy watching my videos, here's the recipe:

If you like to read recipes, I will describe everything in detail below.

How to cook

First, I cut the meat into small pieces (so that it would be convenient to chop it on a fork later). Grind the onion and garlic in a blender. Of course, you can simply chop the onion finely, and pass the garlic through a press. But this is faster and the meat in such a "sauce" will marinate better.

I add chopped onion with garlic to the meat, add vegetable oil, tomato paste, mustard, salt and black pepper. I mix it all and leave it to marinate for at least half an hour.

I cut the potatoes and carrots into cubes. But you can, for example, grate carrots.

Now you need to put everything in the jar. The jar must be clean, dry, free of cracks and chips! It is very important! If there are defects on the can, it can burst in the oven.

Grandma usually had "hardened cans". They stood in the closet, separate from the others. These are the jars in which she cooked dishes in the oven.

I put some meat on the bottom of the jar. Then also some potatoes and carrots. Then again meat, potatoes, carrots. And so, until the jar is full or the food runs out.

I throw the bay leaf into a jar in one of the layers. Add a few slices of butter on top.

I make a lid out of foil and cover the jar. AND I put the jar in a cold oven. Into the cold! It is important!

I set the temperature to 180 degrees and cook the dish for about 2 hours. I want to draw your attention right away - the dish is actively boiling for only 40 minutes. Keep in mind that the oven should heat up, then the food, and only then will it all begin to cook! Do not open the oven while cooking! I'm just resting - the dish will cook without me))

After 2 hours, I turn off the oven, but I don't open it right away! Only after the boiling in the jar stops, you can take the jar out of the oven. This is about 15-20 minutes.

And yes, don't put a hot jar on a cold or wet surface! Otherwise, the bank may burst from the temperature difference.

That's all! Delicious potatoes are ready! Serve with fresh herbs!
