What unites Ireland and Belarus? Nooo, not green meadows with clover. Potato! Laugh, laugh, in Ireland for a long time the main food safety product was potatoes. One of the main reasons that provoked the Great Famine in Ireland in 1845-1849. there was an epidemic of late blight that struck potatoes. I will not tell you why potatoes then became the main agricultural crop in the country, this is us not a historical channel, the fact was cited only as one of the proofs of how important potatoes were for Irishman.
And since it is important, it means that there are a lot of purely Irish recipes with it.
Well, how purely Irish. I think that any person who is more or less well acquainted with their own, domestic cuisine, will somehow recognize these dishes and decide - their own, dear. Because it is very, very difficult to invent something unusual with potatoes, and almost the same set of products is used everywhere in dishes.
But the casserole we're talking about today is Irish.
We take:
- 700 grams of potatoes (preferably one that is boiled during cooking);
- One large bell pepper;
- One large onion (white, not spicy);
- One hundred grams of hard cheese;
- A bunch of parsley;
- Milk - one hundred milliliters and cream - one hundred milliliters. if you are not afraid of calories, you can take only cream;
- A spoonful of butter;
- A spoonful of flour (but you can do without it);
- Salt, red and black pepper to taste.
How we cook:
To begin with, turn on to preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
While it is warming up, peel and cut the potatoes into small cubes (no more than a centimeter on the edge), peel and cut the bell peppers into small squares, and the onions into small cubes. We just chop the parsley finely.
Mix all this in a bowl, mix, add a spoonful of flour there - mix again, rub pepper there - mix again, salt and pepper at the end and... Stir again.
Lubricate the baking dish with butter, put the mixture there and fill it all with hot cream or a mixture of milk and cream.
And then - in the oven, until cooked. Usually it takes about an hour to bake.
Bon Appetit!
