When my husband is in a bad mood, I cook French meat for dinner in a new way. More often, of course, I cook in the oven. But, when we go to the country house or to the river, there is a more interesting way of cooking. And the grill is not needed here.

How to cook:

You don't need to prepare anything in advance. I call this recipe "lazy" because all the food is put into the mold at once. And then you don't need to mix anything. You just need to wait a bit! The result is always amazing!

You can take any meat. I have beef today. I cut into pieces about 1.5-2 cm thick, and about 6x7 cm in size. But this is not very important. You can make the pieces larger. Here, whatever is more convenient for you.

I peel young potatoes from thin skins. I put it in a bowl, add salt, aromatic herbs, black pepper and a little vegetable oil. I stir it.

I put pieces of meat and potatoes in the mold. I don’t salt the meat!

I cut the onion into slices and put it on the meat. Top - cheese and mayonnaise. It is onion, cheese and mayonnaise instead of spices and salt. I always use homemade mayonnaise. I will leave a link to several homemade mayonnaise recipes at the end of the article. More often for this dish I cook mayonnaise in milk. But today I have a classic one.

Now the dish can be put in the oven, covered with foil, for half an hour. Temperature 180 degrees. After half an hour, I remove the foil and cook for another 30-35 minutes. But here you need to make sure that it does not burn, I usually water the potatoes with the released juice, you can turn it over so that it browns evenly. Add the tomatoes 5 minutes before cooking.

But today I cook in a new way! Outdoors! In the oven for simmering. And you don't need to stand near the stove!

I set it on coals and "forget" for 1.5 hours. The principle of cooking here is like in a Russian oven. Meat and vegetables are languishing.

After 1.5 hours, add the tomatoes and leave for another half hour.

And that's all. You can try. It turned out just amazingly delicious! Tastier than in the oven! The meat is like a shish kebab - with a slight smell of haze! And as if it had been pickled for a long time before. The meat is so tender that you don't need to chew it))

And the potatoes are very soft and fragrant, but at the same time whole. It's very, very tasty!

RECIPE:

• Meat (I have beef) - 1-1.2 kg
• Young potatoes - 1-1.2 kg
• Onions - 400-450 g
• Tomatoes - 200-300 g
• Hard cheese - 250 g
• Mayonnaise - 150 g
• Vegetable oil - 1-2 tbsp.
• Ground black pepper
• Fragrant herbs
• Salt
