✅👌 Mackerel is an excellent fatty sea fish that lends itself perfectly to any culinary treatment and at the same time is extremely healthy and very tasty. Many different dishes can be prepared from this fish, but it is especially tasty in pickled or salted form.

In my family, pickled mackerel is the most popular. What marinades I have not used! But this cooking method is by far the top of my favorite recipes.

✨ Firstly, there is no vinegar, everything is only natural.

✨ Secondly, there is no need to prepare a hot marinade, everything is done on a plate in a “dry” way.

✨ And thirdly, this is a great snack taste. I really want you to appreciate it too! 🥰

📕 To prepare the dish you will need: 🥙

Fresh frozen mackerel - 1 pc.
Onions - 1 medium head
Lemon - 1/3
Table salt - 1 tbsp. l.
Allspice - 5 peas
Ground black pepper (or mixture) - a couple of pinches
Ground coriander - 0.5 tsp l. (taste)
Bay leaf - 1 pc.
Cloves - 2-3 buds (optional)
Vegetable oil - 2-3 tbsp. l.

Pre-defrost fresh-frozen mackerel, rinse thoroughly, remove the head, tail, fins, entrails. We cut into rather thin pieces, no more than 1.5-2 cm thick.

Peel and chop the onion into thin half rings. Scald the lemon with boiling water and then cut into thin quarters. Put about a third of the onion and half of the total amount of lemon in a deep plate. Also put allspice and peas there, sprinkle with ground black pepper.

Put the sliced ​​fish pieces on top. It is important to place the pieces in one layer so that the mackerel marinates evenly! Sprinkle it with salt, pepper, ground coriander. Season with ground nutmeg and cloves if desired. You can experiment a little with a set of spices.

Coarsely break the bay leaf, lay it on top of the fish. And put the remaining slices of sliced ​​lemon on top.

Put the onion on top. The bigger, the better! After pickling, it will become very tasty and aromatic. Sprinkle with vegetable oil.

We cover our appetizer with a flat plate and send it to the refrigerator to marinate for 8-12 hours. If you put the fish at night, then in the morning you can take a sample.

Mackerel turns out to be the most delicate, fragrant, moderately spicy and well salted. Even an ordinary boiled potato with such a fish will turn into a royal dinner. This appetizer can also be served on a holiday.
