I always sterilize jars for any workpieces. And even if I put "non-sterile" products in the jar, I still sterilize the jars. I'm so calmer! And I also know a way that doesn't take time at all. 3-4 minutes - and the jars are ready.
I will share several ways to sterilize cans. And at the end I'll tell you about the one I use more often than others.
Of course, first, before sterilization, you need to wash the jars well. I wash with soda. Then I rinse well with clean water.
The first way "from my grandmother." We put a special attachment for sterilizing glass jars on the pan, pour water into the pan and sterilize the jars. We keep them over the steam for 5-7 minutes.
But there are downsides to this method. The nozzle is not suitable for all jars (because now the diameter of the neck of the jar may be smaller standard) and this method takes a lot of time, because EACH jar is sterilized at least 5 minutes. And before that, the water must still boil... And it turns out that such sterilization will take a lot of time. And it will take at least 30 minutes to sterilize 5 cans.
But, by the way, I often sterilize three-liter cans in this way!
Second way. I pour water into the pan, put a mesh on top. and on the mesh - cans. Different jars can be sterilized in this way. But the sterilization time in this way will increase. It takes at least 10-15 minutes, since a little steam gets into the jar.
The disadvantage of this method is that there is a lot of steam in the kitchen and, again, not fast in time.
For small jars I use third way - boiling. I put a pot of warm water on the stove. I put the jars, cover the pan with a lid and bring to a boil. I boil for a few minutes. 2-3 minutes is usually enough.
Another - fourth way. You can pour a little 9% vinegar into the jar, cover and rinse the jar thoroughly with vinegar.
It's fast. But here it is desirable that the vinegar then evaporate. Because jam, for example, cannot be immediately poured into such a jar)) I most often use this method to sterilize lids. Very comfortably.
Fifth way. You can sterilize jars in the oven. To do this, my cans, I set them on the grid with the neck down. I don’t preheat the oven! Putting it in a cold oven! I set the temperature in the oven to 150 degrees and leave the jars there for 15-20 minutes. After 15-20 minutes, I turn off the oven and leave the jars in it for another 20 minutes. I don’t open it right away! Otherwise, the banks may burst.
AND sixth way. This is the method I use most often now! It is the simplest and fastest.
I put some water in each jar and put the jars in the microwave. I sterilize at maximum power for 3 minutes. And that's it! I take out the cans, pour out the remaining water. Jars dry very quickly. And you can use them right away.
This method is good because I can sterilize different jars and several at once. Can be sterilized directly when I need these jars. It only takes 3-4 minutes. Plus, you can "sterilize")) After all, it often happens that one small jar was not enough... And what to do? Start the oven or boil a pot of water... No, it's enough to send the jar in the microwave for 3 minutes!
