Recently I was in St. Petersburg on business. I arrived early in the morning and had little time to have breakfast. I decided that I would go to the legendary pyshechnaya on Bolshaya Konyushennaya for breakfast.

Crumpets for breakfast are, of course, strange, but I learned how to get to Pyshechnaya without queues, and it was interesting for me to check. Previously, when I was near Pyshechnaya, there were always long lines there, but I did not want to stand.

This time I managed to eat donuts without a line. How I did it, I will tell you later, and now let's show you how “Pyshechnaya” looks like from the street.

How it looks from the outside

The institution is located almost in the center of St. Petersburg at the address: st. Bolshaya Konyushennaya, house 25. Finding this place will not be difficult, in all navigators and maps "Pyshechnaya" is marked as a place to visit.

The exterior of the cafe is very simple. There is a huge signboard “Pyshechnaya”, and on the windows there is an inscription - “The oldest Pyshechnaya since 1958”. There is information about the opening hours and nothing else interesting, so it's time to go inside.

What does it look like inside

Inside, the place is decorated very simply. There are free-standing tables for 2-3 people and high stands for those who are ready to eat while standing.

Everything looks like it was in the USSR. I found the times of the Union tangentially, and my childhood was already in the days of perestroika. But in "Pyshechnaya" there is a feeling that he has fallen into the past.

How much are donuts and the rest

The prices, in my opinion, are very low here. One donut costs 15 rubles, a coffee drink with condensed milk (I'm not ready to call it coffee) - 45 rubles. In addition to crumpets, there are sweets from the St. Petersburg confectionery industries.

I bought 4 donuts and 1 coffee and paid 90 rubles for it, although the price list should have been 105 rubles. A girl ordered the same set in front of me and paid the same amount. Perhaps this is such a secret combo set for the locals?

What a taste

I liked the donuts. Here you need to understand that donuts are not the healthiest food, but tasty. But I didn't like the coffee. The coffee tastes very much like the coffee drink that was prepared at the summer camp for children. By the way, coffee is poured here from a huge vat.

Surprisingly, there are no napkins at all in the cafe. Instead, there is a glass with cut pieces of paper on each table. It turned out that this is a tribute to history - in Soviet times, such pieces of paper were in use. At some point, the cafe tried to replace the papers with napkins, but the guests were indignant and demanded to return the papers.

Is it worth going to "Pyshechnaya"

The place is definitely cult, and it is definitely worth visiting at least once to plunge into the past. As a place for a regular visit, it is probably not suitable, since it is rather difficult to get there due to the queues.

How to skip the line

To get to "Pyshechnaya" without a queue, it is best to come on a weekday to the very opening, that is, by 9 am. At this time, most of the tourists are still sleeping, and the locals are in a hurry to get to work.

I was at the establishment at 10 o'clock in the morning and skipped the line. My brother came to 12, and he had to stand in line.

Are you ready to stand in line to try something?
