Step-by-step recipe on how to cook waffle rolls with condensed milk without a waffle iron
Some time ago I shared the recipe “How to make waffle rolls without a waffle iron in the oven”. The video is on the channel, or you can watch it at the link below.
In the comments to that video I was asked: "Is it possible to make tubes in a frying pan?" In theory, of course, it should work, I thought, but what will happen in practice?
At some point, there were too many such comments, so I decided to test the theory in practice, and this is what I got.
Step-by-step recipe on how to cook waffle rolls with condensed milk without a waffle iron
Ingredients:
- Flour 200 g
- Butter 100 g
- Milk 100 g
- Eggs 3 pcs
- Sugar 150 g
- Vanilla extract 1 tsp
- A pinch of salt
- Boiled condensed milk
Using a whisk, stir eggs, sugar, salt and vanilla extract until lightening.
Add melted butter and milk and stir until smooth.
At the end I add flour and mix again. After that, I advise you to leave the dough for 30-40 minutes so that the gluten from the flour begins to swell.
I put the pan on medium heat and preheat well. I have a pancake pan that was once non-stick but now has to be oiled. If the non-stick coating works in your pan, then you do not need to grease with oil.
When the pan is warmed up, pour a small portion of the dough onto it and distribute it evenly. You should get such a small pancake.
Fry on each side until golden brown. Then I remove the "pancake" from the pan and immediately roll it up into a tube.
If you do not immediately roll it up, the pancake will harden, become brittle, like a waffle, and you will no longer be able to make a tube out of it.
When all the tubes are ready, I fill them with boiled condensed milk, or you can make a cream with butter. Let's show what I did.
The tubes are not as smooth as if I made them in a waffle iron, but the taste is still amazing. At first, the tubes will remain crispy, but if left overnight, the moisture from the condensed milk will saturate the waffles, and the tubes will become soft.
