Yesterday we had +39 on the thermometer! Of course, in this heat, I really want to drink some "ice" cocktail. And every cafe has a huge list of iced drinks. But I don't drink such drinks anymore. I don't even open the bar card!

Recently I met my acquaintance and offered to go to the nearest cafe and order a couple of "ice" glasses. But then we drank mint tea, not a mint cocktail, despite the heat. It turned out that Roman has been working as a bartender in a cafe for over a year. He told me why it is better to order just a bottle of water than such, very tempting in the heat, glasses with ice cubes.

For some reason we often forget that ice is the same food! Everything that was in this ice cube gets into our stomach. And dirt, and various "bad" bacteria... And where are they from in ice cubes? This is exactly what I want to tell you about.

The cafe where Roman works is located in an excellent walk-through area. Reviews about this institution are all positive. Clean, comfortable, tasty and the prices are quite affordable for everything. But what is beautiful on the outside is not always perfect on the inside. Unfortunately.

There are three ice makers in the cafe. None of them have been defrosted or cleaned for a very long time. Consequently, there is also a yellowish coating and even black. Yellowish, apparently from poor quality water. And black is mold... Roman says that even the smell from these cars is not very pleasant, "it gives off a little like a swamp." How do you like that?

We will not feel this smell in the drink, most likely, because there are strawberries, and mint, and lemon...

And the water? Of course, the water should only be filtered - this way the machine will work longer without breakdowns, and the ice will be clean and of high quality. But sometimes tap water is used to make ice! What's in this water... I don't even want to think about it.

But many microorganisms can survive even inside ice cubes. Low temperatures do not affect some bacteria or whiskers at all. And they put them in a glass for us... And we drink them with pleasure...

And they put this ice in a glass for us, by the way, not always with clean hands. Now everyone is obliged to work with gloves. But I have not seen the bartenders with gloves. And they throw ice cubes not with tweezers into a glass, but with their fingers ((

Can you imagine what is happening in the seaside cafes... There is now such a flow that few people care about sanitary standards.
