For modern people living with computers and surrounded by a huge amount of household appliances, these strange household items will surely seem like devices for torture from the Middle Ages.
But in reality, they only tortured the food in the kitchen, because the purpose of these was adapted to the most peaceful and necessary.
In the photo above, the simplest hand mixer. Yes, they whipped whites, eggs and made a cream for desserts and cakes.
Something incomprehensible in the photo? Similar to stationery or carpentry? This little thing at the top, of course, may not be familiar to everyone. It's hard to imagine what it is for?
In fact, this is an attachment for a small meat grinder or grinder for homemade cookies. A sausage with a pattern on top of shortcrust pastry was pressed out of these different-sized holes.
If you have not yet understood how it looked, then imagine cookies "shortbread sticks" or "lady's finger".
No! This is not a huge garlic press or garlic press. The gizmo on top is the most common type of juicer from the Soviet era. Through it they tried to squeeze out the mother's juice to their babies, but not for complementary foods, but for future use, for the winter.
Of course, more often it was apples, currants or cherries in the summer season.
Does the strange fit look futuristic? Yes? In the photo above, the most common ancestor of the modern whisk.
According to legend, it was with such an aggregate that proteins were whipped for meringue cakes, Kievsky cake or baskets in Soviet confectionery shops.
A piece with a handle, similar to a rectangular bucket, is a fish cleaner. She was scraped off the scales that were collected in this very ladle.
They say it was very comfortable.
Almost every Soviet woman dreamed of this unit. It seems like nothing special, just an electric saucepan with a wire and a plug (the cord is not visible in the photo), but what a necessary thing in the household!
Guess what it is above? This is the Soviet Chudo oven. A strange shape, but it was perfect for baking, stewing meat, frying vegetables. They even managed to bake cakes, bake fish, pumpkin or apples in it.
Is that a cheese grater!? Many will think so. But no. It's a vegetable cutter, and it worked well with tomatoes or boiled eggs. But something dense was cut with great difficulty.
Of course, it was possible to cut something. But this thing was needed for beautiful, even thin slices or circles, and since the strips of metal were not very hard for her, then it turned out to be very difficult to get the beauty of the cut slices task.
However, some housewives, after upgrading this vegetable cutter, still managed to cut cheese, sausage, boiled potatoes and carrots in this way.
Do any of these appliances still live in your kitchen?
