For the New Year's table, I will definitely make the favorite salad of the whole family - "Herring under a fur coat". There are many variations of this salad, but the classic "fur coat" is the most ideal one. There is no better recipe. Today I will tell you which layers should be in a classic recipe and in what sequence.
How to cook salad "Herring half a fur coat"
I make a "fur coat" as my mother taught me. And I have no extra ingredients. For example, I know that many add boiled eggs to this salad - a separate layer of grated whites and separately yolks, some of the yolks are also used on top for decoration.
I am not against such decisions, but this is not a classic one. I'll tell you what layers and in what sequence should be.
The first layer - herring (skinless fillet), cut into small cubes. It is the herring that should be, and not the preserves, otherwise I know that many housewives save time, do not want to bother with the herring and put the preserves.
The second layer is finely chopped onions, put a little of it! It is only needed to emphasize the taste of salted herring.
Third layer - potatoes
Fourth layer - carrots
Fifth layer - beets
Top mayonnaise, this is a single layer of mayonnaise. There is no need to smear the layers in the middle, otherwise too much liquid will start to stand out and the salad will turn out to be too juicy and "greasy". I don't add salt - the herring and mayonnaise are already salty, that's enough.
We put the salad in the refrigerator for 2-4 hours and can be served on the table.
This is the classic and most correct sequence. And nothing else!
Ingredients:
salted herring, or even better lightly salted
onion
carrot
beet
potato
mayonnaise
Top of the salad can be decorated with a sprig of greens.
