Why is the water so strange that we poured ourselves in the evening and did not drink at night? What's wrong with our water?
Why does the water in a glass change its taste overnight?
Many of us put a glass of water on the nightstand next to the bed before going to bed. Do you ever want to drink in the middle of the night? And in order not to get up from a warm bed and not go to the kitchen, we pour ourselves some water with a margin.
However, in the morning everyone notices that the water is unpleasant and not very much and one wants to finish drinking it or drink it at all.
What's wrong? Why did the water suddenly change? What happened during the night?
The first reason is temperature
What kind of water is poured into a glass? Most likely cool. Not boiling water from a teapot, right?
So cold water in an open container heats up to room temperature, and this changes its taste. But the same taste of stale water is influenced... gases that dissolve in water overnight.
Most often it is carbon dioxide, which, when dissolved, forms carbonic acid, which lowers the pH of the water. In addition to it, acetone gases and sometimes even aldehydes dissolve in an uncovered glass of water. Out of the air around!
Important! The higher the temperature in the room, for example, in summer, the better the solubility of various gases in water.
The second reason is microbes
They are the common cause of tasteless water. Water, no matter how clean it is, is a breeding ground for many microorganisms.
Remember that life came from the water! And in your glass, too, there is that very life.
Research proves that even in 30 minutes, water changes its composition and therefore its taste will also change.
And if you leave a glass of water for several days, then first of all geosmin will appear in it - an organic substance that gives the taste and smell of earth. It manifests itself due to the multiplication of various classes of microorganisms, including cyanobacteria and actinomycetamines.
Here and bowel upset is a stone's throw.
Fearfully? Maybe it's better to take bottled water with you to bed? This is really a way out.
Good luck and health!
