There are many options for making various tortillas - and in most cases they are prepared to replace bread.
Some time ago I published The simplest recipe for sweet yeast dough cakes ...Link to this recipe will be at the end of the article!
Today I want to share a recipe for the simplest, but very tasty and light cakes on kefir, instead of bread. You can cook them in 20 minutes.
Cooking ingredients:
Kefir - 500 ml
Chicken egg - 1 pc.
Sugar - 1 tbsp. l. without slide
Salt - 1 tsp l.
Vegetable oil - 2 tbsp. l. in dough
Baking powder - 2 tsp l. or sachet 10 g
Flour - 500-550 g
Vegetable oil for frying - 50-70 ml
First, break the egg into a bowl, add salt, sugar and rub a little with a whisk or fork.
Now pour in kefir, of any temperature and fat content, mix again.
Next, add sifted flour in 2-3 doses - I sift first about 300 g, and add baking powder along with flour. We mix all this.
Then we add flour, but do not knead the dough cool, it should remain sticky - it is even impossible to collect it into a ball. At the end of the kneading, pour in 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, but do not mix it into the dough, but, as it were, slightly knead. If the dough is too steep, the flatbread will be just oak. Cover the bowl with the dough with a cotton towel (or plastic wrap) and leave it to rest for at least 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, the work surface of the table is well sprinkled with flour, put out the dough from a bowl, roll it in flour, and divide into pieces, round them. Usually, I make pieces weighing 100 g - the cake is about 20 cm in diameter.
We roll each piece into a round cake, in the middle we make several punctures with the teeth of a fork or cuts with a knife.
And, fry the cakes in a pan with a heated small amount of vegetable oil - before that, shake the excess flour from the cakes. Fried literally for 1 minute on each side, over medium heat until golden brown. Cook, taste, Bon appetit!
