In today's article I will tell you how to measure your heart rate correctly and accurately. This skill, at least once, will come in handy in the life of any person. At first glance, it may seem that measuring the pulse is very simple, but to get exact result, you need to know a few simple subtleties, and also not to make mistakes when measuring. I will also discuss and show three main mistakes below. Let's get started!
1. The first error in measuring the pulse is that a person uses the thumb to measure. The thumb also has a pulse, so you can mix up the beats and get a result that will be different from reality. Also do not press too hard with your finger on your hand, a firm pressure will be enough.
2. The second common mistake is heart rate measurement in an uneasy state. Before measuring, you must at least 10 minutes sit quietly in silence. Also measurement preferably in a quiet place.
3. The wrong measuring point is the most basic mistake.
Many people measure their pulse in the middle of the arm, below the wrist, where the vein runs, but this is incorrect and will not give an accurate result. But how to measure the pulse correctly?Measure your pulse correctly two fingers - index and middle. You need to arrange them on the inside of the wrist under the thumb, it is at this point that the pulse is most accurately felt. The correct location is shown in the photo below. We do not press our fingers tightly. Use any stopwatch or watch with a second hand to count. Count the beats within 30 seconds, then multiply the result by 2. This way you will get your resting heart rate. Typically, it is between 60 and 100 beats per minute.
