I recently shared some pumpkin puree dessert recipes. After publication, I received many requests asking me to tell you how to make pumpkin puree.
The process is simple and does not require special skills. When you need to make a lot of puree at once, I usually bake the pumpkin, but today I want to tell you how to make a small portion.
Step-by-step recipe for how to make pumpkin puree
Ingredients:
- Pumpkin 😂
First, thoroughly wash the pumpkin under running water.
Then I cut it in half and remove the core. I usually give it to my wife, who extracts seeds from there and dries them in the oven.
Now I cut the pumpkin into small pieces. I do not remove the peel, as it takes a long time to cut the peel from a raw pumpkin.
I steam some pumpkin. For this I need a special pot insert. The thing is extremely convenient. Due to the folding mechanism, such an insert can be easily put into a pot of any size.
The "unit" is very cheap, and it performs its function 100%. Prices can be viewed on Yandex. Market, go to the widget below. And I go back to cooking.
I put the steamer insert into the pan, pour water and spread the pumpkin. It is possible in several rows.
I put the pan on fire, bring it to a boil. Then cover and reduce heat to mid-range. I leave it in this form for 30 minutes.
When the pumpkin is soft, remove the pan from the heat. Now that the pumpkin is steamed, peel it off.
I send the pieces to a blender, add a little water and punch until smooth. The puree is ready. If you don't have a blender, you can rub the pumpkin through a sieve. This, of course, will take more time and effort, but the texture will be the same. Let's tell you what you can make from such a puree.
As a pastry chef, I most often use pumpkin puree in desserts. The wife likes to add boiled potatoes, peas or lentils and make a puree soup. By the way, I already have several pumpkin recipes on my channel:
