Recently, from a friend of Masha, I learned that in Europe, before the closure of restaurants, you can buy food from them at a big discount. There is even a mobile application for this. I decided to look, but is there something similar in Russia. It turned out that we have had such an application since 2018.
I will briefly describe the essence of the service. In restaurants and cafes, more often than not, they stockpile food than they can sell. At the end of the day, such food is thrown away, since the next day it can no longer be served to guests, although it is still edible and not spoiled.
To avoid throwing away such food, some restaurants sell it at cost. Everyone wins here: the buyer gets food for almost nothing, and the restaurant beats off the cost of food. It used to be difficult to find out about such offers, but now there are aggregator applications.
Found 2 of these apps: Doggy bag and Eatme. They are very similar to each other, the only difference is in the establishments that are connected to them.
I decided to test the service and see what food can be bought through the applications and whether it is really profitable. Let's tell you how to place an order.
I ordered through the Doggy bag app, as it had an offer in a candy store near me. To place an order, I chose a place and clicked on the "want" button.
After that, a barcode appears in the application, which must be presented at the checkout. Such offers with a discount are usually limited in time, I had to pick up my order within 2 hours. The only drawback (although maybe I didn't fully understand it) - it's not clear what will be inside the order.
I had a set of 5 eclairs in my order. They look quite edible, but you need to check the taste.
The eclairs were delicious and fresh. The freshness of the eclairs is easy to check: the custard dough absorbs moisture well from the cream. This was not felt here. Only the eclair from the matches felt a little windy cream. Let's tell you how much I would pay without discount and how much I saved.
After receiving the order, I photographed the shop window, so now I know the full cost. I have the following eclairs in my set: honey cake - 250 rubles, Belgian chocolate - 220 rubles, Madagascar vanilla - 220 rubles, salted caramel - 250 rubles. and matcha-yuzu - 250 rubles. In total, if I bought without a discount, my ordered would come out for 1190 rubles.
I paid only 430 rubles, which means the discount was 710 rubles, or almost 64%. It's time to take stock.
I have only been able to check one sentence so far, but I was satisfied with the result. I got eclairs of good quality and at a reasonable price. There are also disadvantages in the application, the most obvious - it is not clear what will be in the set.
Did you know about this way to save money?
