If you don’t always pay attention to the fine print when buying chocolate, most likely you have already tried “non-chocolate”.

Recently, I have noticed that a large number of confectionery bars have begun to appear in stores that look like chocolate but are not actually chocolate. What is the difference, I will tell you at the end. For now, let's show you how they look.

What do you think is in the photo: chocolate or confectionery bar? I will give the answer at the end of the article.
What do you think is in the photo: chocolate or confectionery bar? I will give the answer at the end of the article.

Confectionery tiles are a conventional designation. Most often, manufacturers try to hide the fact that this is not real chocolate. Therefore, they came up with beautiful designations: dairy tiles, dairy or dark confectionery tiles - and all sorts of similar names.

An inattentive buyer does not pay attention to this fact and buys the wrong product that he wanted. This is because manufacturers make packages that are bright and as similar to chocolate as possible. Everyone can be wrong here.

Therefore, first I will tell you what chocolate is. Chocolate is a confection made of cocoa liquor, cocoa butter and powdered sugar. Milk powder is added to dairy, and many do not consider white chocolate to be chocolate at all, since it does not contain grated cocoa.

Recently, a Swiss chocolatier has brought out a new type of chocolate - ruby. Moreover, the color of chocolate is really a similar shade, and this is without any dyes. All types of chocolate, even white, are united by one component - cocoa butter.

The composition of the confectionery product: dairy tiles

And it is he who is not in the confectionery tiles. Cocoa butter is an expensive ingredient and is often substituted in confectionery. Palm oil is often used as a substitute. It's cheap, but obviously not very useful.

Therefore, confectionery tiles are often very cheap (15-20 rubles per 100 grams). But sometimes manufacturers get impudent and, adding nuts to the tiles, raise prices, so be careful.

The easiest way to check what's in front of you is to read the composition. The correct chocolate should contain cocoa butter. Do you read the composition of what you buy?

P.S. The answer to the question I asked at the beginning of the article: in the photo there is a confectionery bar, but it looks so much like chocolate.
