Today I cook thin and fragrant cakes. Instead of bread. In fact, this is the same pita bread, but it's easier to cook, you don't have to roll anything with a rolling pin.
Add half a teaspoon of salt to 200 grams of flour.
My cakes will be fragrant, I will add dried basil. You can add fresh herbs or oregano, dry garlic, or other favorite condiments. Or you can add nothing at all.
I stir.
I pour in 100 ml of hot water and quickly knead the dough.
First, I knead with a spoon, because it's hot.
I add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
The dough has become warm, you can start kneading with your hands.
All the ingredients are combined, I move to the board and stir for another 5 minutes.
The dough turns out fragrant, does not stick to your hands at all. Put the dough in a bag for 20 minutes, let it "rest".
I divide the dough into pieces. From this amount, I will get 10 small cakes.
The finished cakes are perfectly stored, you can reheat the next day. The dough itself is also great in the refrigerator.
I grease the plate with vegetable oil. I spread the future cakes and grease them with vegetable oil.
I cover the blanks with a bag for 5 minutes (they will be soaked in oil and will easily stretch, and even a rolling pin is not needed).
I put the pan to warm up, I will not additionally grease it with oil. I take the first piece and stretch it into a thin cake with my hands, the dough stretches very easily.
I'm sending the cake to the pan. While one cake is fried, I stretch the second.
I fry the cake on both sides until golden, the fire is stred. Here is such a stack :)
If you put the cakes in a bag, they will become soft. If left, they will be crispy. My kids crunch instead of chips :) Try to cook!
