Cereals are the most popular foods. They are inexpensive, very useful for the body, since they contain many useful substances, especially fiber. And the most popular variety is buckwheat, which many eat almost every day. But not everyone knows that this cereal should be washed - in this case, the prepared dish will be even healthier.

Why rinse cereals before cooking

Many people believe that it is not necessary to rinse buckwheat before cooking, since this is an "optional procedure". Nevertheless, this belief is fundamentally wrong. The main problem is that any pack of cereals contains a lot of garbage and not even high-quality grain, including in the products of trusted manufacturers who sell expensive cereals.

And there are those who, during the storage period of cereals in barns, process it with special solutions based on chemistry.

Naturally, eating such a product without purification is not something that is not useful, but even dangerous. Some of the manufacturers do not care about the quality of their goods at all, which is why even fine sand can be found in packages with buckwheat.

But unprocessed cereals can significantly change the taste of the finished dish. Moreover, if you accidentally bite into a small stone, there is a chance that you will be left without a part of the tooth. Removing large debris is not the only reason why it is worth rinsing cereals before cooking.

The main thing for which you need to do this is to wash the phytic acid that is part of the grains, which impairs the absorption of buckwheat.

This substance, alas, our body does not assimilate. Another disadvantage of acid is that it interferes with the absorption of other nutrients, including zinc and potassium. Thus, if buckwheat is not washed, it will not be so useful.

How to rinse correctly?

Previously, many at first manually sorted out cereals, but this stage can be abandoned - washing will remove all the garbage. It is enough to pour the required amount of buckwheat into a saucepan, fill it with clean water and wait a little. Small debris and peppercorns are much lighter than grains, and when the latter are saturated with water and sink to the bottom of the container, they will float. You just need to drain them.

For reliability, the cereal should be washed at least twice. The main thing is that the output is clear water without any impurities.

Another option is to rinse the cereals with a metal sieve, which will avoid very small grains of sand getting into the finished dish. But you should not touch a dry hand with your hands - because of this, small elements can crumble even more and it will be quite problematic to wash them.

And when you finally rinse the product, you can start cooking.

But not all buckwheat needs to be washed. If you buy cereals in portioned sachets, this completely excludes the processing and washing of the product - the manufacturers perform all the manipulations before the final packing. True, to be sure of this, it is better to buy goods from more well-known manufacturers, even if they are more expensive.

But what about green buckwheat?

We should also talk about green buckwheat. This is a fairly popular product among those who adhere to a healthy diet.

It also must be rinsed in water until it becomes transparent. And after that, it is advisable to soak it in clean boiled water for 2-3 hours. This procedure is necessary for green buckwheat to germinate: only in this case the product will be really useful.

But even after soaking, do not forget to rinse the cereals: due to prolonged exposure to water, unpleasant mucus may turn on the product, which definitely should not be eaten.

At the last stage, the liquid is drained, the cereals are laid out on a clean surface and left for a day. And only when the product is completely dry, buckwheat can be processed.
