Oatmeal, oatmeal, beauty porridge - these names are familiar to many from childhood. Preparing a delicious and healthy breakfast in less than half an hour is not difficult at all if it is oatmeal. There are many options for its preparation: boiled in water and milk, made in the form of a dessert or a side dish - in any case, it is very tasty.
Oatmeal for breakfast is very much appreciated in the UK, and especially by the Scots. It is mandatory in a traditional "Full English Breakfast". This cereal saturates the body with energy for a long time.
Ingredients:
Oatmeal flakes - 70 g
Water - 250 ml
Apple - ½ pc.
Cinnamon (ground) - ½ tsp
Salt - a pinch
Sugar - ½ tbsp.
Honey - 1 tablespoon
Butter - ½ tbsp.
Raspberries (fresh) - for serving
Mint (fresh) - for serving
Step by step recipe:
1. Let's prepare the ingredients: oatmeal needs those that require cooking, such as Extra or Hercules; sugar white or brown to taste; honey, preferably liquid, so that it can be easily mixed with apples.
2. Place oatmeal, sugar, butter and salt in a small saucepan.
3. Cover with water and put on low heat. Bring the oatmeal to a boil, cover the saucepan and simmer the porridge over low heat, stirring occasionally for about 15 minutes, or until all the water has been absorbed.
4. While it's cooking, peel half of the apple, cut into small cubes and mix with honey and cinnamon.
5. After 15 minutes, the porridge is ready - it turned out to be moderately thick, not "smear". To taste, you can make the dish thinner by adding a little more water initially.
6. Serve the oatmeal with apples in a deep plate or bowl. First put some apples with honey and cinnamon, be sure to add the resulting syrup.
7. Put the oatmeal on top of the fruit and some more fragrant honey apples with syrup on top.
8. You can add fresh berries, such as raspberries, to taste.
9. Serve the oatmeal immediately after cooking, while it is still hot.
Oatmeal with apples can be served not only for breakfast, but also for an afternoon snack, and in addition to apples, raisins soaked in hot water for 10-15 minutes are perfect.
