Puff pastry roses with sausage

Puff pastry roses are a kind of "artistic" alternative to the banal sausage sandwich. If there is a roll of ready-made dough in the freezer, it is very easy to cook them in a minimum period of time (maximum 15 minutes, the rest is the matter of the oven). How successful the result will be will largely depend on the right choice of products - natural and of good quality.

Such roses can be a decoration for any table: be it a buffet table, banquet, party or family feast. Can be served as breakfast sandwiches, as an appetizer for lunch or dinner, or as a snack.

Ingredients:

Yeast-free puff pastry - 500 g

Boiled sausage - 350 g

Cooked-smoked sausage - 200 g

Chicken egg - 1 pc.

Tomato sauce - 1 tbsp l.

Preparation:

Step 1 of 8

Prepare the necessary food set. Frozen dough must first be defrosted by transferring it, for example, in the evening from the freezer to the refrigerator. If it is factory-made, it is better to defrost it according to the instructions on the package.

Step 2 of 8
Step 2 of 8

The number of sausages can be adjusted according to your taste preferences in the direction of one or another variety. To make roses, peel the sausage and cut into half rings 2 mm thick.

You can, of course, cut first into rings, and then each in half, but boiled sausage has a certain flexibility, which makes slicing difficult. therefore, it is very convenient to first cut the loaf lengthwise into two equal parts, and then each, placing on a stable wide cut, cut into the same half rings.

Step 3 of 8
Step 3 of 8

Divide the defrosted dough into sheets (2 pieces) and roll out on the wide side in one direction into a thin layer 2 mm thick. Now cut the resulting rectangle into narrow strips about 1.5–2 cm wide.

Step 4 of 8
Step 4 of 8

In a small overlap, retreating the gap along the lower edge, put sausage blanks on strips of dough. One end of the tape should remain free to fix the rose (as in the photo).

Step 5 of 8
Step 5 of 8

Gently roll the strip into a tight roll, fix the free end well. The gap left at the bottom of the tape should cover the sausage half rings. If you wish, you can add a block of hard cheese to the beginning of the tape when folding.

Step 6 of 8
Step 6 of 8

Put the blanks of roses on a frying sheet, stepping back from each other. Beat the chicken egg with any tomato sauce (you can use 0.5 tsp. l. paste) and smear the workpieces with a special brush. The use of sauce is optional, but not out of place.

Step 7 of 8
Step 7 of 8

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and bake the roses in it for about 20 minutes until a slight blush.

Puff pastries can be served with your favorite sauce for sandwiches, pizza, shawarma and a lot of juicy greens (arugula, lettuce, sorrel, Swiss chard), as well as fresh cucumbers and tomatoes.

Bon appetit and may it be delicious!
