Verguny is a delicious Ukrainian dish. Many people remember their taste from childhood. Verguns are triangular or rectangular pieces of dough, turned in the center and fried in a large amount of vegetable oil.

There are a lot of recipes for their preparation. Knead the dough with milk, sour cream or kefir. The taste of baked goods also depends on how it is rolled out. If the dough is thin, the verguns are crispy, and if the dough is thick, soft and very fluffy.

Today I will tell you how to cook lush verguns on kefir. The dish is very light, the ingredients are simple. Even a novice hostess can cook them.

Ingredients:

Kefir - 200 ml.

Sugar - 100 g.

Chicken egg - 1 pc.

Baking powder - 12 g.

Flour - 400 g.

Vegetable oil - 250-300 ml. (for deep fat)

Powdered sugar - for serving

Step by step recipe:

1. Prepare foods from the list. Warm the kefir a little, it should be warm.

2. Sift flour with baking powder through a fine sieve, preferably several times. During sifting, the flour is saturated with oxygen and this contributes to the splendor of future baking. Add sugar and lightly stir dry ingredients.

3. Pour warm kefir into the flour mixture and beat in an egg.

4. Stir with a spoon while moistening the flour.

5. When spooning becomes difficult, transfer the dough to the table and continue kneading by hand. The dough should be smooth and elastic. Transfer to a bowl, cover with a towel and let sit at room temperature for 30 minutes. It should "mature".

6. Roll out a layer 1 cm thick. For convenience, it is better to divide the dough into several parts.

7. Cut the layer into wide strips. The length can be any, it all depends on your preferences.

8. Use a sharp knife to cut in the middle of each strip.

9. Pass one edge of the workpiece through the hole and turn it out. In this way, form all verguns.

10. Heat the oil in a deep fat fryer or small saucepan and fry the shaped pieces in small portions. During cooking, they acquire a golden color and grow well in volume.

11. Transfer the finished baked goods to paper napkins to get rid of excess oil.

12. Verguns are ready.

Baking is served warm, sprinkled with powdered sugar, with a cup of aromatic tea or milk.
