If you don't have a cauldron with high sides or a saucepan with a non-stick bottom, then you can easily prepare airy and crispy popcorn in a pan. To do this, you need a minimum of ingredients, but it is advisable that the dishes in which you are going to fry the corn kernels are not flat, otherwise they will fall out of it.

The most important condition for frying popcorn is the presence of a lid, since the grains, bursting, seem to jump out of the pan, and only the lid stops their jump. Otherwise, the entire floor in your kitchen will be littered with an airy snack.

Determine the taste of the dish for yourself, you can make salty or sweet popcorn, pour caramel over it and cut it into squares, etc. - do not limit the flight of your culinary imagination. The recipe describes cooking with salt.

Ingredients:

Corn grains - 80 g

Salt - 0.5 tsp

Vegetable oil - 1.5 tbsp.

How to cook:

1. Prepare the food you need. You can buy special corn grains in any supermarket by weight or on the market.

2. Corn grains should not be heated for a long time, otherwise they may overcook. Therefore, first preheat the pan itself by placing it on the stove and turning on maximum heat. Use cast iron cookware, if available. As soon as it warms up thoroughly, reduce the heat to medium and pour in vegetable oil, add salt. If desired, the popcorn can be salted after cooking, but it will become more uniformly salty during the frying process.

3. Add corn kernels immediately. Do not rinse them under any circumstances! The only thing you can do to clean them is to rub the grains between your palms, removing excess scales and dust.

4. Then immediately cover the container with a lid and fry them on medium heat. After about 1-2 minutes, the grains will begin to bounce and burst, exposing the frothy, snow-white pulp.

5. After about 3 minutes, turn off the heating so that the first bursting grains do not burn. Since the pan is cast-iron, it will give its heat to the grains for another 1-2 minutes, and the last of them will be transformed into crispy "clouds". Do not remove the cover!

6. As soon as the explosions subside, popcorn can be put into a deep bowl. Do not try to wait for the last grains - there is a possibility that the whole mass will burn and acquire a bitter taste. Open the lid and quickly transfer the finished meal to a bowl or plate. At this stage, you can add salt if you haven't already.

Let the hot salted popcorn cool slightly and serve it to your family as a beer snack or as a treat while watching your favorite movie or TV series.
