Stewed cabbage is an excellent dish containing many useful substances. It is also low in calories, which is important for many people. As a rule, such a dish is prepared on the stove, under the lid in a small cauldron or frying pan. But there are more options, and today I will share one of them.
We will stew cabbage in the oven. The recipe is so simple that even a novice housewife can handle it, but for this you need to choose the right main ingredient. When choosing cabbage, give preference to a dense head of cabbage, with thin white leaves. It shreds well and tastes good. The amount of carrots and onions can be adjusted, just like spices.

Ingredients:
Cabbage - 0.5 kg.
Carrots - 1 pc.
Bulb onions - 1 pc.
Salt to taste
Ground black pepper - to taste
Tomato paste - 1 tablespoon
Sugar - 0.5 tsp
Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
Water - 100 ml.
Step by step recipe:
1. To cook stewed cabbage in the oven, prepare the required set of ingredients. Tear off the top leaves from the fork, as a rule, they are always not of very good quality. Rinse the head of cabbage under running water, dry and chop into long, thin strips. If there is a special device for shredding vegetables, use it, if not, a sharp knife does an excellent job too.
2. In a bowl of cabbage, send the onion, cut into half rings, and the grated carrots. Add salt and pepper to taste.
3. Stir the vegetable mixture well to distribute the spices evenly and place in a dish suitable for baking.
4. Separately, in a small container, combine vegetable oil, tomato paste, sugar and water. Pour the resulting sauce over the vegetables and stir a little.
5. Cover the dish with a lid or foil and send to the oven. Simmer the cabbage at 180 degrees for about 30-35 minutes. After the time has passed, take a test for the taste and tenderness of the vegetables.
6. A tasty, aromatic and low-calorie dish is ready.
Oven-baked cabbage can be served hot or chilled. It will be an excellent side dish for meat or fish dishes.
