I like the stew because you can use any food you can find in your pantry or on the refrigerator shelf to make it. It can contain a variety of vegetables, beans, meats and herbs. But today I want to share a recipe for a vegetable stew with potatoes and cabbage. It is prepared quite simply, but it turns out delicious and satisfying, even though meat is not on the list of products. Such a dish can be safely served on the table during Lent. Recommend!

Ingredients:
Potatoes - 2 pcs.
Carrots - 1 pc.
Bulb onions - 1 pc.
White cabbage - 300 g.
Dill - 3 branches
Water - 100 ml.
Tomato paste - 1 tsp
Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
Salt, black pepper - to taste
Step by step recipe:
Prepare the required set of ingredients. Choose dense cabbage with thin, light leaves. Instead of a paste with water, you can use tomato juiceor fresh tomatoes.
Chop the peeled vegetables: cut the onion into cubes and grate the carrots on a fine mesh grater. Send to a frying pan with vegetable oil and fry, stirring occasionally, until golden brown.
The stew does not have to be cooked in a pan; it can be replaced with a cauldron or a heavy-bottomed saucepan.
While the vegetables are browning, prepare the cabbage. Remove the top sheets from it, as a rule, they are always limp or spoiled. Then rinse the head of cabbage under running water and divide it into several parts for convenience. Chop the cabbage into thin strips. Add it to onions and carrots.
Stir and cook over medium heat for 5 minutes. During this time, the amount of food in the pan will noticeably decrease.
Peel potatoes and cut into thin slices. If the tubers are too large, cut in half. Add potatoes, salt, black pepper, tomato paste and water to the rest of the ingredients.
Stir gently and cover the cooking container with the lid.
Simmer the stew over low heat for 25-30 minutes until the vegetables are soft.
At the end of cooking, add finely chopped dill or other herbs of your choice to the dish.
Delicious, juicy stew with cabbage and potatoes is ready.
Divide into portions and serve hot.
