Meatballs are meatballs that are very popular in my family. I cook them in a very convenient way - in the oven. Thus, they are evenly baked and at the same time simmer in the gravy. It turns out a very tasty and satisfying dish, the calorie content of which can be regulated by meat. If you want a dietary option, cook with chicken or turkey.

Ingredients:

Minced meat - 500 g

Carrots - 1 pc.

Bulb onions - 1 pc.

Chicken egg - 1 pc.

Salt, black pepper - to taste

Rice - 100 g

Tomato juice - 100 ml

Sugar - a pinch

Water - 50 ml

Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons

To cook meatballs with rice and gravy in the oven, prepare the food listed for the recipe. Of course, nowadays you can buy minced meat in the store, but I am a supporter of home production. To do this, choose a good piece of meat (in my case, it is pork), rinse under running water, dry and cut into small random slices. Pass them through a meat grinder with a fine wire rack.

Peel and wash vegetables. Dice the onion and grate the carrots. Then fry them in vegetable oil until golden brown, stirring occasionally.

When vegetables are cooked, separate half and transfer to a plate to cool. Pour the second part with tomato juice, add a pinch of sugar and bring to a boil. Heat for 5 minutes and remove from heat.

Combine minced meat, chicken egg and cooled vegetables in a suitable container. Rinse the rice thoroughly, changing the water several times, and add it raw to the rest of the ingredients. Season with salt and pepper.

Mix the resulting mass thoroughly and beat a little about the bottom of the bowl. The meat fibers will soften and it will become more viscous.

Divide the minced meat into eight equal pieces. Then wet your palms with cold water and shape into round pieces. Then place them in an ovenproof dish.

Spread the tomato sauce on top and add a little (50 ml) of hot water.

Cover the tin with foil and send to the oven. Cook meatballs at 180 degrees for about 50-60 minutes, until rice is soft.

Serve the meatballs hot. Perfect as a side dish mashed potatoes, which must be watered with tomato sauce.
