I pour oranges with water and sugar

Admin

A very unusual use for oranges is their caramelization. Of course, you have to tinker a little, but the result is worth it. And when they are prepared, a magical smell will "stand" throughout the apartment.

These orange slices can be an alternative to candy. They are good to serve with tea or light alcoholic drinks.

Decorating caramelized oranges on cakes, pastries, desserts and various pastries is very common.

Ingredients:

  • Oranges - 5 pcs.
  • Sugar - 600 gr. (+ a little for sprinkling)
  • Water - 1300g. (300 gr. for caramel, 1000 gr. for cooking)
Step 1 of 8

Prepare the required ingredients before cooking. Wash the oranges.

Step 2 of 8

Using a sharp knife, slice the citrus fruits into circles approximately 0.5 cm thick.

Step 3 of 8

Pour a liter of water into a large saucepan. Bring to a boil.

Dip chopped oranges in boiling water and boil for 3 minutes. Then use a slotted spoon to fish them out and place them on paper towels to remove excess liquid from them. Blot the top with napkins too.

Step 4 of 8

For caramel, combine the specified amount of water and sugar and bring to a boil. Wait until the sugar crystals are completely dissolved. Then lower the orange slices.

Step 5 of 8

Boil the oranges for 30-40 minutes, until the rind is translucent. Then catch, let the water drain and place on a baking sheet lined with cooking paper.

Put in the oven, preheated to 70-80 degrees, and dry the oranges for 1-1.5 hours. Make sure they do not burn. Leave the citrus fruits there until they cool completely.

Step 6 of 8

Dried oranges are completely ready to eat or to decorate cakes / desserts. But they stick to your hands a little. Therefore, you can roll them in fine sugar.

Step 7 of 8

Store caramelized oranges in a cool glass jar.

Step 8 of 8

Ready-made orange mugs can not only be rolled in sugar, but also poured over with melted chocolate.

You can surprise your guests with such an unusual delicacy by serving it as a dessert on the festive table.
