Delicious, colorful and healthy red currant compote can be prepared in a matter of minutes, both in summer and winter. It has a bright aroma, light acidity and is perfect for serving with dessert. The main thing is to taste the berries before creating a drink, since their taste changes from more sour to less sour in different years. This will help you understand how much granulated sugar to use. By the way, it can be replaced with honey of any kind - the compote will become even healthier, but only if you or your family are not allergic to honey.
The cooking time directly depends on the amount of berries and liquid in the container - it will take about 15 minutes to create 1 liter of the drink. It is not recommended to add citric acid or lemon juice, as red currants themselves taste rather sour. But auxiliary spices will come in handy: ground cinnamon, star anise stars or a few dried cloves.

Ingredients:
Red currant - 200 g
Water - 700 ml
Sugar - 120 g
How to cook:
Prepare the food you need.
Sort red currant berries in a small container: remove stems, leaves, twigs and other debris. Rinse in water, then drain.
Pour them into a saucepan / stewpan / ladle, add granulated sugar to taste - do not worry, as at the end of cooking you will be able to correct the compote anyway. If you nevertheless decide to add honey, then this will need to be done only after the finished drink has cooled down to 30-35 degrees, so that the sweet product does not lose its beneficial properties.
Pour warm water into a saucepan with berries (you can boil it in a kettle in advance). Place the container on the stove, turning on maximum heat, and bring to a boil. Then reduce the heat to medium and cook the compote until the berries give their color, aroma and taste to the liquid.
They will float to the surface and become soft - at this moment you can turn off the heating. Taste the compote, adjust it as needed and cool slightly to a moderate temperature.
Pour the drink into a jug, pour the rest into glasses / cups and serve. Red currant compote is delicious both hot and cold.
