Surely every housewife has her own favorite recipe for pickling herring. But sometimes you want something unusual, some incredibly tasty and aromatic salting. I have such a recipe and now I will share it with you.
Everything is done very simply, you just need to be patient, since the fish will be ready only in a day. The next day, you just have to boil mashed potatoes and enjoy delicious home-salted herring.
Step by step recipe:
Prepare all the food you need. Do not defrost the herring completely, as it will be easier to clean from the entrails.
Cut off the head and tail. Gently open the belly, remove all entrails and the black film inside. Use a sharp knife to cut the back along the entire length along the ridge, this will help the herring to be salted faster. Now set the fish aside and let it defrost completely.
In the meantime, take care of the marinade. Pour water into an old saucepan, bring it to a boil. Pour in salt and sugar, dissolve them completely.
Pour in all the spices: cloves, bay leaves, peppercorns, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground coriander. Boil for a couple of seconds and turn off the stove. Pour in vinegar. Cool the marinade.
Place the peeled herring in the cold marinade. Leave to salt at room temperature for a couple of hours, and then send it to the refrigerator for a day.
After a while, remove the fish from the marinade, blot it with paper towels. Peel off skin and bones. Cut into small slices up to 2 centimeters.
Place the herring pieces on a flat dish. If desired, drizzle over lemon juice or vegetable oil. Garnish the fish with fresh herbs and serve.
This herring can be served both to a family for lunch and to guests at a festive table. Be sure to boil potatoes and do not forget about homemade pickles - with barrel cucumbers or sauerkraut will be delicious.

- Fresh frozen herring - 1 pc.

- Bay leaf - 2 pcs.
- Peppercorns - 6 pcs.
- Ground ginger - 1/3 tsp
- Ground cinnamon - 1/3 tsp
- Ground coriander - 1/3 tsp
- Salt - 1.5 tablespoons
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- White vinegar 6% - 2 tablespoons
- Water - 0.5 l
