I propose to prepare an original spicy Greek dish. The pumpkin comes out very aromatic and spicy due to garlic, dry basil and pepper. Tomato paste gives it a sour note. The pumpkin is first fried in a pan, after which it comes to readiness in the oven. Therefore, it turns out soft and juicy.
Spicy Greek pumpkin can be served as an independent dish or as a side dish for meat.
Ingredients:
- Pumpkin - 450 gr.
- Ground basil - 0.5 tsp
- Tomato paste - 0.5 tablespoons
- Salt - 0.5 tsp
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves
- Pepper mixture - 0.5 tsp
- Water - 2 tablespoons
Prepare the required foods from the list.
Peel the pumpkin from the top layer, peel off the seeds and veins inside with a knife. Rinse the flesh, blot with a napkin, cut into large pieces of approximately the same size and shape, preferably into a dice.
Put a frying pan on the fire, pour in oil, heat and place the pumpkin cubes. Fry for a few minutes on both sides.
Then sprinkle the pumpkin with ground basil, a mixture of peppers and salt to taste. Stir.
Add the tomato paste and stir it over the pumpkin.
Exfoliate the cloves of garlic, chop coarsely, toss into the pan. Fry the pumpkin in spices and tomato for a few more minutes, stirring occasionally.
Transfer the pumpkin slices from the pan to a baking dish, add a few tablespoons of water. Do not stir!
Load the mold into an oven preheated to 180 degrees. Bake the pumpkin for the next 20 minutes, until tender.
Cool the finished dish, transfer to a plate.
Bon Appetit!
